A couple of months ago was Compassion Sunday. Compassion International is an organization that exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. I was convicted that we could sponsor one more child. I really wrestled with God on this one because finances were tight, they still are, but they were extremely tight to the point of we had no jobs lined up for the next month. There was a table in our lobby with all of the children’s pictures. Pictures get me every time.
I actually talked myself out of it the first Sunday. No, we couldn’t afford to do it. We already have a sponsor child. That was easy, just keep walking and don’t look back. The table was there again the next Sunday. Busted! The Holy Spirit was working on my heart all week and when I arrived and saw the table again, I knew that I couldn’t disobey. I told God that I would do it, but he would have to bring in the extra money through Wings. My little side business with Wings hadn’t brought any money in either for about 3 months. So it was a big step of faith.
It has been 3 months and every month God has provided enough to cover Sophia’s sponsorship. I love to see how he provides!
